Galactic Monuments
Navigating through closed caverns, distant spaces and unidentifiable monuments. This painting was such a raw and visceral experience. It was mostly finger painting, where I was aiming at using unconventional materials and process. Wax crayons, sumi ink, gesso, ground pastels sprinkled into wet paint, and sticks to scrape through thick paint. I then later went through with detail brushes and drawing tools to refine and detail the work.
This is the largest painting I’ve completed to date. It is currently adorning the wall of our music room and is the first painting visible when you enter our home.
