This is a 30 minute, en plein air watercolor, painted with no pencil sketch. “En plein air” translates to “in open air.” I was an artist at Zoo Atlanta’s Art Gone Wild event in 2018. They had a bald eagle with a broken wing that they were rehabilitating. I was fortunate enough that during the time I was there, that eagle was sunbathing and was sitting very still, long enough for me to paint him.
