Dolphin Emerging
My 3 favorite parts of this are the layering in the forehead, the mysterious shapes underwater, and the surface of the water.
This was a fun piece to make. I was experimenting, creating many layers in different mediums, while playing in my mark making. I even did some fingerpainting in the whites, while using my hands to blend the pastels.
I started with a pencil sketch, used black ink for my line work, then built up the base colors in watercolor. I used a white acrylic paint on the dolphin and some purple and blue pastels for the water.
