Brawlhalla-Themed Shoe Commission
Custom painted kicks! My client commissioned these as a gift of love for his lady. She is a champion at a mobile game Brawlhalla, so I painted these to reflect her favorite character skin, favorite map, and favorite colors. The messages of love on the inward facing part of the shoes I designed to match the font style of the game.
To make these shoes wearable, I used Angelus leather/fabric paints, which are an acrylic heat set paint made to bind to textiles. To make these shoes wearable, I mixed Angelus flexible paint additive into each color mixture. I made a custom stencil for all the large shapes of color, then airbrushed on thin layers of paint to ensure a smooth surface, even color transitions, and to keep the paint thin, which makes it less likely to crack. I also masked off the insides of the shoes to keep them their original texture and soft to the touch. I wet blended the color transitions in the frogs using my paintbrushes and used a thin rigger brush to make the black outlines. When it was finished, I sealed the project with Angelus textile clear coat and set the paint using my heat gun.
